Kalka Shimla Train fare
This is the oldest ordinary category regular passenger train to Shimla. It takes longer time as compared to other trains. It takes 5 hours and 20 minutes to reach Shimla. It stops at almost every station on the way. All the Bogies of this train are not first class, there are passenger bogies on this train as well. The fare for first class is INR 280.
Himalayan queen offers bigger windows for viewing with comfortable seats. A new improvement which has implemented to convert the generic power supply to solar power is under trial. It is the first train of India with such kind of arrangements. Bogies having Chair Car category of seating arrangement costs Rs 255.
Shivalik Deluxe Express
It is a luxury train of the Kalka-Shimla railways. This train has no refreshment stop as food served inside the train. The creamy red colour of coaches gives you an ideal uniqueness of this train. Shiwalik express offers the facilities like carpet flooring, soft seats, larger window dimensions and luxurious ambience. The fare for this Chair car is INR 415.
This Express train comprises of passenger, second seating and first class. Passenger class trains serve facilities like ordinary wooden chairs, regular window and attached toilet. The first class cost INR 290 as fare charges. Second class seats can be booked online.
Rail motor is a small rail car with a seating arrangement of fourteen people. This rail car used to be the personal vehicle for the viceroy of India. It is also associated with Indian independence movement as it carried Indian Ministers, Freedom fighters and Democrats who used to travel to Shimla by this train during that time. It is roofed with transparent glass. Satellite television is also available. All the seats are comfortable for commuting and fare is Rs. 315.

Kalka Shimla Train Booking
Kalka Shimla toy train can be booked using the online booking system of Indian railways through the IRCTC website. Travellers should remember that the online system for booking Kalka Shimla toy train begins one month before the journey date. You cannot book this train before 30 days from travel date.
At the time of long holidays, Republic day holidays, Independence day holidays, Summer Holidays, Dussura and even during Diwali the toy train shows lesser vacancy. It is highly recommended to the travellers to get their tickets done on the very first day as the system opens as it may be difficult to get a ticket through this system if a delay occurs.
Toy trains can be booked by two ways, firstly travellers can directly book it from IRCTC booking system and secondly by other websites like Clear Trip, Yatra and Make my trip. This portal, charge them a processing fee and fare gets a little costlier as compared to IRCTC booking system.
Booking Train by IRCTC
Step One: –
Log into the website of IRCTC. IRCTC website is https://www.irctc.co.in.
Step Two: –
Please generate an IRCTC login ID using a sign up button. If you already have login ID and Password then you can proceed to next step.
Step Three: –
Please Insert the log In ID and Password and sign in.
Step Four: –
Click on the link “Plan My Journey” inside your account.
Step Five: –
Insert station code KLK for Kalka and SML for Shimla also select you travel date and submit.
Step Six: –
After clicking the submit button system would show you available train and classes. You can book you train.
If you are booking toy train by Portals like Clear trip, Yatra and Make My Trip than you do not need to create a login, you can search directly. In some of the websites, they may ask you your email ID. It could also notify to select a class for travel like first class, chair car and sleeper class.
